Table For Two is a website and app that offers delivery and pickup dinners for two in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
View PrototypeWhat do you want for dinner? Idk, what do you want for dinner? The most inscrutable and inevitable back and forth among couples (especially new couples), how do you order out when you need a date night but don't really have a preference?
Table For Two is an easy way to order up a nice date night, or relaxing night in. We take the headache out of meal planning by providing full dinners with drink pairings at a lower price point than typical delivery/take out options.
This project took place over two months in early 2020 as part of my CalArts UI/UX design specialization.

Table For Two Sitemap
Dana and Greg met through a dating app and have done all the traditional early-stage dates - dinner, movie, picnic, park, bowling, drinks, lunch, pottery class - and just want to start hanging out without too much thinking or planning. However, they're still romantic and would not be satisfied just watching TV all night (even though they still have yet to watch The Office all the way through together).
Dana discovers "Table for Two" on a listicle about "10th Date Ideas" and checks it out. It's a relatively inexpensive way to specifically order a dinner for two with a curated wine pairing and dessert. The order process is super simple due to the limited, specialized menu and they are quickly able to order a dinner.
The food arrives in 45 minutes with a heartfelt "bon appetit!" and they sit down together on the furniture their landlord left on the roof. They enjoy their dinner with a romantic view of Manhattan, and no fretting about how much to leave for a tip.
Since then every other week or so when they want to have a nice date night without too much hassle, Table for Two is there for them with a fresh selection of curated date night food at a reasonable cost.
Bon appetit!
Users were able to quickly click through the main ordering flow on the mobile version of the website, though there was some hold up in the menu section where people were confused by the entree selection interface.
There was some confusion about whether you could order more than two items, but this was mainly due to limitations of the prototype, and would be clearer in the final version. Still, worth looking into. It may make more sense to have one entree choice for two people, especially since it would simplify drink and dessert pairing. As it is, it doesn't seem too different from a typical restaurant delivery service, aside from having far fewer options.
Going forward I would perhaps offer choices of total packages, rather than having a choice at each step of the way, since that is more like how other apps and restaurants operate. The idea is to simplify the process, and have a totally curated experience, and the confusing amount of choice seems to hinder that with some users.
